Wilder Carbon Projects
Wilder Carbon is all about scaling up native habitat restoration here in the UK.
Wilder Carbon projects are all Carbon+ which means that they deliver multiple benefits: locking up carbon and increasing wildlife as well as benefiting people and communities e.g. flood prevention.
Biodiversity restoration
By restoring large areas of dynamic native habitat, we can restore nature in all its diversity and abundance and lock up more carbon in a more resilient way.
Carbon sequestration
Peatlands, saltmarshes, and woodlands are known to be vital habitats for locking up carbon. But wetlands, species-rich grasslands, and wood pasture also have significant potential and can be restored from marginal land.
The Wilder Carbon recommended Carbon + Habitat Tool allows us to calculate this potential.
We already have 1,674 Ha of wildlife-rich native habitat ready to restore. With your support, we could lock up at least 385,817 tonnes of CO2e additional carbon now.
Improved evidence
Wilder Carbon works on the basis of using the best available data in the best available way. Our pathfinder projects will help improve the data available to us and further scale up our impact.

Our Project Portfolio includes both Delivery Projects where good carbon data is available, and Research and Development Projects where this data standard cannot yet be met.
The most obvious example of this are marine projects which are a massive untapped opportunity but require significant additional research.
